A few months ago, I shared a spontaneous adventure catching Gavin DeGraw’s electrifying performance at the Avalon Ballroom in Niagara Falls. That impromptu night not only introduced me to incredible friends, but six months later led me to North Carolina, the heart of breathtaking landscapes and boundless exploration. From the vibrant streets of Charlotte to the coastal allure of Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach, every corner of the Tarheel State beckons with its unique charm.
Exploring a new city isn’t complete without diving into its live music scene, and Charlotte, the Queen City, didn’t disappoint. When our weekend itinerary pointed us to Charlotte, the music gods smiled upon us: Gavin DeGraw and Andy Grammer, two of our favorites, were set to light up The Fillmore stage in a double-headline show at the one of the cities most iconic music venues, The Fillmore.
Epic Opening Act
The night unfolded with Wrabel, an opening act whose talent defies description. His performance was a revelation, setting the stage on fire and leaving us in awe, but you don’t have to take my word for it – check him out for yourself.
Phenomenal Double-Headliners
Then came Gavin DeGraw, a maestro whose music feels like home. With both timeless classics and fresh melodies from his latest album, “Something Worth Saving,” Gavin’s performance was a testament to his enduring brilliance.
Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, Andy Grammer took the stage, igniting a frenzy of energy and joy. His electrifying presence and infectious tunes left an indelible mark, making it a night to remember.
Queen City Vibes
While our time in Charlotte was fleeting, we savoured glimpses of its hidden gems. We did indulge in the sophisticated charm of the Wine Vault at the Shoppes at University Place for a refined evening of wine tasting. Then we ventured next door to Boardwalk Billy’s for a laid-back feast by the river, complete with their legendary “fishbowl” cocktails that pack a punch without breaking the bank.
Charlotte’s attraction is undeniable, and left us longing for more. The echoes of live music linger in our memories, as we make the drive back to Wilmington, North Carolina.
